Komura; Creators Grant aims to empower the local, independent press community across the Philippines by funding a creative with a mad idea to help him/her bring it to reality. We believe that exploring the possibilities of storytelling in different mediums require financial support so we partner with art patrons to make this happen.
A zine is a self-published, ISBN-free work of original or appropriated texts and images, usually DIY reproduced, e.g. via photocopier in very limited quantities.
In partnership with Komura;, homegrown logistics company Xend donated P15,000 to fund a creative. The money must be used to make at least 70 copies of a concept.
All Filipino citizens, or former Filipino citizens, 16 and above (except employees of Xend, Warehouse Eight and Kwago), are free to pitch ideas and prototypes for them to be funded and turned into reality. The winner of the Creators Grant announced during Komura; book fair 2017 was Rommel Joson. He is set to launch the finished and funded zine on November.
Our next Creators Grant can be funded here.
